Ah So It Go, Ah No So It Go, Go So! offers a meditation on belonging, land, growing and grounding that reverberates through poetry, oral traditions and embodied knowing.
The sound piece considers the poetry and complexity of the language of horticulture and cultivation in relation to Black diaspora, migration and culture. The conversation is animated with the rattling of steel barrels and seeds. The title, Ah So It Go, Ah No So It Go, Go So!, references patois terms, the use of which, in this instance, speak to the instructive and formative moments, gestures and familiar phrases that shape us and impart collective and ancestral wisdom.
Ah So It Go, Ah No So It Go, Go So! was created during a year-long residency on an allotment as part of the No Real Closure programme at Cubitt Gallery, London. For Parabol Ah So It Go is curated by Julie Lillelien Porter in relation to The Cosmopolitan Chicken Project by Koen Vanmechelen at Kunsthall 3,14.
