An evening with Dirar Kalash

Dirar Kalash is renowned for his diverse and boundary-pushing sonic expressions, and co-founder of projects like Exist Festival and Sonic Front that amplify marginalised voices. In March 2024, he was invited for a 10-day residency in Bergen by Vers Libre and Lydgalleriet, where he presented his work at various events.

Palestinian sound artist Dirar Kalash is known for his existential and diverse repertoire of musical and sonic expressions, transcending conventional boundaries through instrumental, compositional and improvisational structures. Kalash is also one of the initiators of Exist Festival, a Palestinian-organised international project that amplifies voices and narratives from marginalised communities. Additionally, his involvement as one of the founders of Sonic Front bears witness to his dedication to challenging boundaries and conventions within the sonic landscape. In March 2024, Vers Libre and Lydgalleriet invited Kalash to Bergen for a 10-day residency, where he shares and presents his work at various events throughout his stay.

An evening with Dirar Kalash in Fabrikkhallen at Bergen Kjøtt, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 19.30. This acoustic concert marks Dirar's final evening in Bergen. Dirar is deeply rooted in a vibrant network of Arabic origin and international artists, where his presence extends beyond the studio through live performances like this one. Many thanks to Kjetil Møster for generously lending the saxophone during the residency. In collaboration with Vers Libre.
