Dubtables

Dubtables is an installation of record players and dubplates, focusing on the material and performative qualities of the objects and a composed musical process.

The project explores the record player as a sociocultural phenomenon: DJ and club culture, dance as social activity and technology as a prerequisite for it.

On the other hand, it is about the vinyl medium as materiality and representation of reality; how the sound is found in the grooves and forms images or images of the sound waves that once worked on a microphone and which the pin again transforms into sound. During the exhibition period the plates wear down, changing character.
