Doppelgänger

The installation Doppelgänger re-contextualises sound from social spaces into an immersive metal construction.

Just as in Stanley Kubrick's film '2001: A Space Odyssey', monoliths play a central role. But where the monoliths in the film stand as signs of advanced extraterrestrial technologies and advances, the monoliths have a slightly different function and form in the installation; they appear in the form of sound.

These monoliths become the acoustic double-goers of the social space and appears to be a disclosure of the real. The acoustic space is stripped of its outer shell and displays its inner structures. A new parallel version of the room appears.

The exhibition was produced by Lydgalleriet and Bergen Kunsthall in collaboration with the Borealis festival.
