Works for Listening

Works for Listening is a new series of electroacoustic works by Tine Surel Lange. The material is sourced from everyday life: absorbations, soundscapes and collections from objects and actions. Each piece is created by one organic sound source, to a varying degree reconstructed by tone, percussion, noise, resonance and voice layers.

The sonic material in Works for Listening appears as physical, tactile and abstracted from its' original state. Many believe that Surel Lange's sound recordings are digital and made with synthesisers; in reality it may be the sound of, for instance, running water being the sound source itself. With Works for listening Surel Lange's desire is to challenge our psychological categorisation of sound.

Commissioned for this iteration of Works for Listening, Ingeborg Okkels has written the essay 'Lyd for lydens skyld', published by Lydgalleriet. The pdf version of the essay can be read here. Curated by Julie Lillelien Porter.
