Wet Sounds, the world's only underwater sound gallery, will be in Bergen, installing their underwater speakers in Sentralbadet for a concert on Tuesday, September 15th. People with hearing impairments are especially invited to experience the clear and detailed sound textures underwater, which provide a unique, immersive listening experience.

Sound travels four times quicker in water than in air due to the water’s density. It is perceived not only by the ears but also by the bones and the body. The sensation is similar to a floatation tank effect. The activity promotes relaxation, listening, openness to sound art and enhanced audio perception.

Bring your swimwear and get into the pool to experience an underwater concert with Maia Urstad, Espen Sommer Eide and Magnar Åm, as well as sound installations by Hildegard Westerkamp, Sam Salem, Michael McLoughlin, Robin Edwards, Annie Goh, Eric De Luca, Slavek Kwi, and Mark Vernon.

'It’s a bizarre experience, a bit otherworldly… The sounds are pulsating through the water at speed…With my whole body immersed, it feels as if they’re hitting every limb. It’s not like listening to music in the bath, with your head under the water: there the music gets distorted. What I’m listening to is razor sharp. It’s astonishingly immediate, inescapable, and faintly perplexing'- The Guardian.
