Eirik Brandal shows his latest work the es-series at Lydgalleriet, a group of sculptures communicating wirelessly over wi-fi, composing in real time.
Concerned with polyrhythms, rhythmical counterpoints and streams of permutative patterns, the sculptures expand on the idea of the circuit as an ecosystem; containing modules that converse and influence each other, thus requiring input from other sculptures in order to function.
The auditory composition is a sort of non-directional speech, where new 'sentences' and phrasings are invented for each utterance, yet the conversation never moves forward.
Brandal's essay 'On electronic soundsculptures' can be viewed in Lydgalleriet's listening library.
