"Feeling insignificant, humbled, small and limited really inspires and liberates me”.
NOÖSPHERICS is an exhibition, book launch, conference and club night curated by Erin Sexton.
Sexton's project NOÖSPHERE started in October 2017, when as a licensed radio amateur, she organised a transmission of two different peoples’ sonified brain waves between Bergen Kringkaster on Askøy and a field station set up in Svartediket, a valley outside Bergen.
The recording of this process was part of the exhibition hosted at Lydgalleriet last November, including a series of sculptures made of materials such as copper, crystals, wire, borax, memory foam and tarps. Amidst this material consciousness, Sexton works with theoretical ideas linked to new materialism and speculative realism, coming through in her book NOÖSPHERICS, published by Topos, where several texts integrating this ideas are included.
