PNEK - Production Network for Electronic Art in collaboration with Lydgalleriet, Kunstnernes Hus and Notam host a full-day workshop for artists, gallerists, curators and others involved with exhibition spaces, museums and galleries.
It is increasingly common to showcase works incorporating sound in exhibition spaces. Designed primarily for visual arts, they often pose challenges for optimal sound presentation. Enhancing dissemination requires exploring ways to maximise our existing spaces. This workshop aims to equip you with tools to improve sound quality in your exhibition spaces.
Through practical exercises and demonstrations, we will cover fundamental principles of sound, listening, and acoustics. Additionally, we will address specific challenges and brainstorm solutions tailored to our venues. Together, we will explore strategies for effectively utilising spaces to showcase various types of sound. Topics will include:
Participants will be challenged to consider questions such as: How can we effectively present sound in exhibition spaces? What measures can we take to achieve optimal sound quality in our venues? How do we engage our audience in active listening? How can we implement stereo video and four-channel audio setups in our spaces? And how do we create location-specific gallery mixes?
The workshop will focus on practical demonstrations and the effective use of rooms and speakers in challenging acoustic environments. We will work together to develop solutions for creating optimal listening conditions for stereo audio, video, and four-channel audio. Additionally, we will guide you through the process of crafting a site-specific gallery audio mix.
