Innimellom er lyden stille

Innimellom er lyden stille is an installation composed from polyphonic vocal textures, consisting of one voice in multiple layers. The vocal soundscape demands alternative phenomenological undertones: it is in the meeting of sound and listening that meaning occurs.

Each subject brings its unique experience into the listening, becoming a co-creator to the installation, which the listener again complements with it's presence. A key issue in the work with Innimellom er lyden stille, is whether the journey of the voice has the potential for the subject's experience in a shared space.

Rather than composing dramatic events in time, Horneland composes situations that unfold in space. Innimellom er lyden stille is an installation sensitively adapted to spatial acoustics, architecture and light, as well as the listener's presence in the room. The sound activates the room, inviting contemplative and embodied listening between the voices.
