FREE FLOW

FREE FLOW is a fixed-media sound piece based on Debris' AI-generated violin samples, a database that provided the work's grounding noise(s), glitches and distorted sounds.

Gviniashvili creates a sonicality opposing the traditional sonority of a violin, a sonic space rich in textures, overwhelming and ear-piercing. She combines electronics, electro-acoustics and 3D sound technology with visuals, dance and live performance to penetrate deep into the physical and emotional essence of sound and space.

Music has followed Gviniashvili through her life since early childhood. Growing up in eastern Georgia, she sang and played piano and gradually found her feet as a creative composer and visual artist while studying composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

FREE FLOW is a set of electronic compositions based on material generated by the Demiurge audio synthesis engine, a music machine-learning platform. Demiurge consists of a tripartite neural network architecture developed by Roberto Alonso, Marek Poliks and a team of collaborators at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

The piece is curated by Julie Lillelien Porter in response to Oceanic Horror or How to Survive the Night in the Haunted Mansion of Absolute Capitalism by Søren Thilo Funder and Another Leader: Act #2 by Nástio Mosquito at Kunsthall 3.14.
