Arturas Bumšteinas is showing BLUR, a five-channel video work based on scrolling and film music from the five films about Hannibal Lecter.
Bumšteinas 'blurs' the scrolling text, both audibly and visually. It's a simple but very effective grip.
By letting the ending sequence of the films appear as oblivious ambiances, a dwarf is created over Thomas Harris's novel figure which builds the familiar interpretations of Anthony Hopkins and Brian Cox. The last picture, the last sound we hear before we leave the cinema or turn off the DVD, has been stretched out and made unclear, like a memory or a slight impression, but the effect may be stronger than the original?
The project is a collaboration between Gallery NEON, Fylkingen and Lydgalleriet.
