Gjennom å ha blitt kjent med Dirar Kalashs opptak fra hverdagen i Gaza som en "usynlig" kraft som kan vende tilbake, motstå, vedvare og nå ut til steder det tilsynelatende ikke kan, har han– gitt den nåværende situasjonen– laget en ny versjon av lydverket unsieged resonance til denne utgaven av PARABOL. Skapt og kuratert i forbindelse med hovedutstillingene Communities in Movement, konseptualisert av Brandon Labelle og Yamaikaleter av Alexander Apóstol, tilbyr Kalashs lydverk et urokkelig vitnesbyrd om forholdene i Palestina akkurat nå. unsieged resonance åpner med en automatisk svarmelding som formidler at samtalen ikke kan gjennomføres grunnet avbrutt kommunikasjon i Gaza, etterfulgt av resonnerende elektroniske lyder fra et hjemsøkende, vrengt og støyende vakuum.

Dirar Kalash er en musiker og lydkunstner hvis arbeid strekker seg over et bredt spekter av musikalske og soniske praksiser innenfor ulike instrumentelle, kompositoriske og improvisatoriske sammenhenger. Kalash utvider også sin praksis til tverrfaglig teoretisk forskning. Han har produsert flere soloplater og samarbeidsmusikkalbum og er aktiv som turnerende musiker. I tillegg har han også skapt flere lydinstallasjoner, live audiovisuelle forestillinger og fotoprosjekter.

PARABOL er et samarbeid med Kunsthall 3.14 der Lydgalleriet velger ut et lydverk til den parabolske høyttaleren plassert i Kunsthall 3.14s inngangsparti. PARABOL har et spesielt fokus på soniske verk som komplimenterer utstillingene i overetasjen ved å by på alternative ytringsformer.

Getting to know Dirar Kalash's work through his recordings from everyday life in Gaza as an ‘invisible’ power that can return, resist, persist and reach to places it supposedly can’t,  he– given the current realities– made a new version of the sound piece unsieged resonance for this edition of PARABOL. Created in relation to the main exhibitions Communities in Movement conceived by Brandon Labelle, and Yamaikaleter by Alexander Apóstol, Kalash’s sound piece bears uncompromising witness to the circumstances in Palestine as we speak. unsieged resonance opens with an automatic answer message conveying that the call can't be made due to communication being cut in Gaza, followed by heavy electronic sounds processing a haunting, inside-out static vacuum.

Dirar Kalash is a musician and sound artist whose work spans a wide range of musical and sonic practices within a variety of instrumental, compositional and improvisational contexts. Kalash also extends his practice into inter-disciplinary theoretical research. He has produced several solo and collaborative musical albums and is active as touring musician, in addition to that he also created several sound installations, live audio-visual performances, and photography projects.

PARABOL is a collaboration with Kunsthall 3.14, where Lydgalleriet selects a sound work for the parabolic loudspeaker sited in Kunsthall 3.14's entrance hall. PARABOL has a particular focus on sonic commissions and edits and offers a mode of address complementing the exhibitions in the main upstairs spaces.
