Reading Stanley Brouwn er en installasjon som undersøker handlinger som å gå, å måle, å arkivere, å lese samt rytmisk temporalitet i hverdagen.

Gjennom en lesning av kunstboken My steps 12.12.2005 – 1.1.2006, etableres et forhold til verk av den konseptuelle kunstneren Stanley Brouwn (NL). Arbeidet hans adresserer ikke-målbarhet og materialitet gjennom å telle egne skritt. Prosjektet inneholder tre elementer: kunstboken My steps 12.12.2005 – 1.1.2006, en handling av Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec sammen med en installasjon som re-posisjonerer boken og handlingen av “nået” som en uklar rytmisk norm eller funksjon for bevegelse, refleksjon og lytting.

Utstillingen er en del av den siste presentasjonen av stipendiatprosjektet Rhythms Of Presence (2013 –) gjennomført ved Kunst- og Designhøgskolen i Bergen i samarbeid med prosjektrommet Rom8, Lydgalleriet og Bergen Offentlige Bibliotek.

By way of reading the artistic book my steps 12.12.2005 - 1.1.2006, the project establishes a relationship with the opus of the conceptual artist Stanley Brouwn (Suriname/Netherlands), whose many works address the (im)measurability and materiality of the distances and their archivisation through the process of counting his one's own steps.

The project contains three elements — the book my steps 12.12.2005 – 1.1.2006 of the artist Stanley Brouwn, an action of Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec, and an installation which repositions the book and the action “in the now” as an unclear and elusive rhythmical instruction, suggestion, norm or support for movement, reflection or listening.

This exhibition is a part of the final presentation of the artistic research project Rhythms Of Presence (2013 - ) carried out under the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme at Bergen Academy of Art and Design – KHiB in Norway, in collaboration between the Academy of Art and Design’s own Project Space Rom8, Lydgalleriet and the Bergen Public Library.
